Final Week Rehearsal Schedule

The students have been working incredibly hard on the show and we are excited for opening night this week!  Thank you parents and families for your support of the show this season – we could not have done it without you!
Just a few notes:
Ticket Sales:
Advance Tickets Sales will take place outside the auditorium on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-4pm.  Tickets can also be purchased at the door before each show.  Ticket Price is $5 per person.
Snacks:
The students will begin arriving for Hair and Makeup between 4pm and 5pm on Wed, Thurs and Fri. so it is really imperative that they have something substantial to eat before they come to the school, however we will have snacks available for them to keep them fueled up before the show.  Please note that we have several students with life threatening food allergies, so students may not bring outside food to eat in the dressing rooms.  Also, the kids change into their costumes before heading into hair and makeup and cannot have anything messy to eat in their costumes.  Thank you so much for understanding!
On that note: Thank you to everyone who volunteered to send in snacks for the students for this week!  If you have not already sent them in, items can be sent in with your student to rehearsal Monday or Tuesday or can be brought to the main office during the school day.  If you would still like to donate, please see the Sign Up Genius Link for approved foods and  details: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0844a9af29abfb6-peter
DVDs:
Our show is being professionally recorded and DVDs can be ordered for $15 each.  Payment can be made by cash or check.  Checks should be made payable directly to the videographer, “Brendan Scullin”. Order forms will come home this week.
Cast Party:
The students will have a cast Pizza Party following the last performance on Saturday.  The party will run from 5pm to 6:30. Permission slips will come home this week.

Rehearsal Schedule for the Week of April 15th

Thank you cast and crew for a great week of rehearsals!  We are on target to have everything ready for our opening night in just a week and a half --- keep up the good work!

Cast members remember that each student (female and male) needs to have a black eyeliner and mascara to be used for their stage makeup.  They should be brought in no later than Saturday the 21st and given to the costume crew to put in a ziploc and label with your name.

Pirates need black "boys" slip on or lace up shoes for their costumes (no sneakers or girls shoes).  We have some shoes in our costume collection; if you are not able to find a pair we may have a pair that fits and you are welcome to borrow them. See the costume crew and they can assist you.

Lost Boys should have either black or brown "boys" slip on or lace up shoes (no sneakers or girls shoes).  Again, we have some shoes in our costume collection; if you are not able to find a pair we may have a pair that fits and you are welcome to borrow them. See the costume crew and they can assist you.

Parent help needed:
We are still looking for Parent volunteers to help with hair and makeup on Wednesday, April 25th, Thursday, April 26th and Friday, April 27th from 4-7.

We are also looking for parents to help with advance ticket sales on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (April 23, 24 and 25) from 2:40 until 3:45 and ticket sales on the days of the play:
Thurs 4/26 from 6-7, Friday 4/27 from 6-7 and Saturday 4/28 from 1-2.

Finally, we are looking for parents to send in snacks for the kids for the dress rehearsals and performances as well as a parent to coordinate snacks for the cast party.

If you are able to help in any way please send an email to Mrs. Penny at mpenny@newtonnj.org
Thank you!!

Boosters can still be purchased for the program.  They are $1 each and are due on Saturday, April 21st. The order form is located on this page below the rehearsal schedule.

Advanced Ticket Sales (provided we have volunteers to assist us with them) will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (April 23, 24 and 25) from 2:40 until 3:45.  Tickets will also be sold from 1 hour before each show.

No rehearsal Saturday, April 7th

Just a reminder that there is no Saturday rehearsal scheduled for April 7th.

Saturday rehearsals will resume the following 2 weekends (April 14th and 21st).

Sunday, March 25, 2018

Our Saturday rehearsal was very productive.  The students were reminded as spring activities are starting up that their attendance at play practice is expected to take priority over a new sport or activity that they are starting.  We will have only 2 full weeks of rehearsal when we return from Spring Break on April 9th.  Our show needs to be full rehearsed by April 23rd and ready for costume and technical elements to be added.  Every hour of rehearsal time is precious.  Thank you so much for understanding and honoring your committment to the drama program as outlined in your contract.  As the show draws nearer the rehearsals need to be longer in order to try to run the entire show in sequence.  Students may want to consider bringing a book to read or homework to do quietly when they are not required to be on stage.

VERY IMPORTANT:  The next Saturday rehearsal is April 14th.  There will one last Saturday rehearsal on April 21st.  All Saturday rehearsals and rehearsals the week of the show (4/23 thru 4/28 are mandatory.  Failure to report to mandatory rehearsals will result in forfeiture of your role in the show).

Also, students should eat breakfast before they arrive and bring a snack and drink to have during break at 11:15.  We have several students with food allergies so outside food is not permitted in the auditorium.  ONLY CLEAR BEVERAGES WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE AUDITORIUM during rehearsals and must have a tight lid or cap to prevent spills.  All food must be eaten in the cafeteria (where we will eat our snack) so they will not be able to eat any breakfast food they bring with them until 11:15.  Thank you for understanding and making sure they have breakfast before they arrive.  Also, students will be dismissed at 1pm in plenty of time for lunch so there is no need to send them with a huge meal to eat at snacktime.

Thank you to the parents who have offered to help with elements of the show.  There are still many volunteer opportunites available. (See last week's post.)

T-Shirt orders are due by the end of this week.

Ads are due by Friday April 13th.

Weekly Schedule plus this Saturday's MANDATORY Rehearsal details

IMPORTANT REMINDER:
This Saturday, March 24th from 9-1 is the first of our MANDATORY Saturday Rehearsals. Please note that as it was stated in the audition contract, there are no abences allowed on Saturdays.  Failure to report to rehearsal on Saturday will result in the forfeit of your role in the show.  Please be prepared and on-time and be sure to eat breakfast before you arrive as there should be no eating in the auditorium.  We will take a 15 min break about half way through our rehearsal to have a snack and use the restrooms.  Snacks should be PEANUT FREE and will be eaten in the cafeteria. Students MAY NOT leave the building at any time during the Saturday rehearsal. The same rules about leaving the auditiorium to go to other areas of the building that we have during weekdays rehearsals apply on Saturday.

Also, if you are not walking home, please be sure that your transportation is on time to pick you up.  We try whenever possible to keep you no more than 5 minutes late if we have to keep you late at all.  We can understand rides being 5 minutes late, but since we cannot allow you to stay inside the school unsupervised and it is not safe for you to be outside alone waiting for your ride (especially at night!) the directors need to stay with you and wait until your ride arrives.  Please be respectful of our time and that of the custodians who need to stay after we leave to finish cleaning the auditorium. Thank you!

We are in the midst of collecting and making costumes for the show.  We generally provide most of the costume pieces for the show unless the student has made other arrangements with us.  Sometimes we will ask students to provide pieces they may have in their own wardrobes and/or to use their own shoes.  We will give the students plenty of notice if there is something they are responsible for providing.

Dear Parents:  We are in need of parents to help with the following things.  Please send a quick e-mail to Mrs. Penny at mpenny@newtonnj.org if you are able to volunteer to help in any of these areas.  As always -- your help is so very much appreciated!

1) Ticket Sales after school the week before the show and the hour before each performance.  Needed:  ** Ideally one parent to head up ticket sales and several volunteers to help with sales.

2) Cast Snacks and waters:  During the week of dress rehearsals and performances the cast begins arriving at the school at 4pm for hair and makeup.  Since that means they are eating a very early dinner, we try to provide healthy, school approved non-allergen (and non-messy, lol) snacks and plenty of bottled water for them to have while they are waiting for hair and makeup to be done.  Needed: ** Ideally one or two parents to head this up and solicit/collect donations from families of the cast.

3) Cast Party Refreshments: Following our last performance on Saturday afternoon the cast helps put away the costumes and props and then has a cast party down in the cafeteria.  The drama club provides pizza and families of cast donate school approved non-allergen food and drinks for the party.  Needed: ** Ideally one or two parents to head this up and solicit/collect donations from families of the cast.

4)  Hair and Make-up Help:  The week of dress rehearsals and performances the kids will have their hair and makeup done for the show.  We solicit the help of parents, family friends and/or community members who have skills in this area to volunteer their time and talent for the kids.  If you are able to help or know anyone who would, it is most appreciated.  Supplies are provided by the school.  Needed: ** Ideally four adults for Hair and 4 adults for make-up.

Rehearsal Schedule for the Week of March 18th:
**Please note that stage crew members should only report to rehearsal if Mrs. Keppler asks you to come to a particular rehearsal.  If you arrive and are not scheduled to be there you will be sent home.  Thank you for understanding.
